French Toast

French toast is a delicious breakfast recipe you can also serve as a dessert. For garnishing this recipe, you can unleash your imagination and add a wide variety of ingredients like diced fresh fruit of your taste, ice cream, nuts, jams and even chocolate glaze. The best bread to prepare this recipe with is brioche bread, which is fluffy and buttery, but you can also use other types of bread like milk bread, French bread or croissants. Although called French toast, this recipe dates back to the times of the Roman empire when it was called Pan Dulcis (Sweet bread).

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Brioche bread
  • 100 ml milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 80 g butter
  • Blueberries, to taste
  • Maple syrup, to taste

Instructions

  1. Add milk, eggs and a pinch of salt to a plate.
  2. Mix well with a fork.
  3. Slice the bread and coat it well on both sides with egg mixture.
  4. Melt the butter in a non-stick skillet and fry bread slices on both sides until golden brown.
  5. Serve topped with blueberries and maple syrup.
  6. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can also add fresh strawberries or a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
